Q: What is GPEN’s definition of Greater Philadelphia – do you accept postings from New Jersey and Delaware?
A: At present our volunteer Research Team is focusing on the City of Philadelphia and Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery Counties. However, organizations based in New Jersey and Delaware are welcome to post on GPEN. We welcome pertinent news, event listings, and job opportunities in Harrisburg and our neighboring counties and states, as well as some national news items and resources that would interest the environmental community in our Philadelphia metropolitan region.
Q: Does GPEN allow postings about political activities and political advocacy?
A: GPEN operates under federal 501c3 guidelines which do not allow us to do political advocacy such as promoting political candidates or parties. Our legal advisors also have advised not to publish calls to action such as “Contact your political representative” to vote in a certain way on a bill or regulatory ruling. As we are an information publisher, it is, however, ok for us to publish an excerpt and link to a story published in a neutral way, such as a newspaper article about the fact that something is coming up for a vote and some of the issues and major players.
Q: When I post my Organization and our events, will my postings need to be approved by GPEN?
A: GPEN has a postings editor who screens all postings. Your posting will go live immediately, however our postings editor will review it and may contact you if we need clarification about something or if your posting's content does not seem consistent with GPEN's environmental focus. GPEN reserves the right to edit or remove postings.
Q: How can I print pages from GPEN with a Print-Friendly option?
A: Our web pages are designed to automatically be Print-Friendly. You can verify what you are printing by going into “File” then “Print Preview” in your web browser.
